Ahmed Lawan has emerged as new Nigerian Senate President with 79 votes while Ali Ndume scored 28 votes.
107 senators cast their votes.
The Senator Lawan representing Yobe North constituency, won the leadership position of the ninth National Assembly,defeating his opponent Ali-Ndume with 79 votes from the lawmakers.
This automatically makes him the Senate President and has been sworn in.
